Title: Good Card
Date Reviewed: 2008-08-02 00:25:25 | Recommended?: Yes
Remarks: I have had this card for 2 years. Started off with $2500 and last year I hit the CLI button on my online account and got $1000 and then 6 months later I did this again. The online CLI didn't pull my reports but the max you can get is 1k. Last week, I called in to ask for an account review of my credit for a CLI and they got me to $7000. I like their rewards program. It is simple and easy to use. You get 1% cash back on everything with no points minimum and no expiring points. I use this card for everything. So far HSBC has been good. The only gripe is when you pay online, sometimes they hold your payment for 10 days i.e. the money is credited but the credit limit is not released by the amount you pay. I recommend this card for everyone. It is one of the better cards out there.

Title: Credit Rebuilding
Date Reviewed: 2008-07-22 17:41:19 | Recommended?: Yes
Remarks: I'm currently helping my father rebuild his credit. I haven't seen his report or scores but his credit seems pretty bad from what he tells me. He doesn't have any solid payment history since he filed BK 10 or 11 years ago. We bought a new truck in February 2008 and he co-signed and we have been making payments on-time. Capital One sent him a pre-approval offer last month, applied for the card, and was approved for basic Cap 1 card with a $500 limit.

Today, I helped him apply for a basic HSBC card without any rewards. He was instantly approved for a $300 limit with no AF as of yet. This is great because he gets a second chance at rebuilding his credit and I will help him all I can with the knowledge I've gained here on FG.

I would like to recommend cards from HSBC and Capital One for rebuilding and can't emphasize enough for consumers to NOT apply for cards like First Premier.

Remember, Capital One and HSBC based their approvals off the on-time payments we have been making with the truck. They are not high limits but definitely a great start.

Title: HSBC I Love NY card
Date Reviewed: 2008-04-16 04:53:54 | Recommended?: Yes
Remarks: I got a pre-approved letter in the mail for this \"special\" card, so I applied online and was approved instantly to my surprise! :) My CL is 2,000 with 0% APR for six months. They offered me rush delivery for the card for 35 bucks, but I picked the regular delivery. I just have a question about the card if anyone has it of course. Is it really the I Love NY design on the card? I hope so as that is the reason why I sort of wanted it. Even though in the letter they said I should plan my next trip to NY using this card. I live in New York! Thnx, -galxygrl*

Title: Approved

You have been approved with a credit limit of $ 5750

Title: HSBC iloveNY Gold MC
Date Reviewed: 2008-02-10 04:17:14 | Recommended?: Yes
Remarks: hi guys!

i got this pre approved offer from the mail today. it\'s from HSBC and the card is.. \"seriously\" I love NY Gold Mastercard with an actual plastic replica of the card.
a promised CL of up to $2000.00

funny, since i\'m from CT and before i start loving NY.. let\'s just say there\'s Boston, San Francisco etc ha ha ha!
sorry NY residents.. i\'m still sour graping when your Giants defeated our Patriots =)

anyway, the offer appears legit! 0% APR for 12 months no annual fee var APR of 14% after etc..
hmmm.. tempting, if you have read my other post
( WAMU Platinum VISA) you know i have a Banana REpublic store card..

got me thinking, why not transfer the balance to this one . and an additional credit limit will boost my credit score.. although another application can reduce some points..

oh well.. so i log in, applied and got approved.

now here\'s the TWIST.. the page says congratulations! and the Card they gave me was the regular HSBC PLatinum MC and no credit limit stated.. hmmm..

my question to HSBC card holders.. is it really like this? so i have to wait for the card to know my credit limit?

at the end.. i have the option on the page to go with the usual 10-14 days processing or pay a $35 rush fee to make it 3-5 days.. i chose the 10-14 days since i have no intent of using it right away.
